Recommended Mods For Raiding In World Of Warcraft

Blizzard, the company behind World of Warcraft, has been very open and friendly to the mod community surrounding their game. There are many mods out there that change various aspects of the user interface and at this point in the games evolution many are almost required to succeed. While nothing substitutes paying attention, raw talent, leadership, and dedication; these mods will go a long way towards increasing your guild's raid effectiveness.

1. EPGP: This is the system my guild uses to distribute gear and reward raid attendance. Unlike other point systems such as DKP that can be horded and are inherently unfair to new members, EPGP creates a ratio system that in many cases allows new members to get geared up while at the same time rewarding dedicated longtime raiders. It is the best system we have found and has brought down the time taken to distribute loot to generally 1-2 minutes per boss. The mod also easily allows everyone in the guild to see their priority at any given time and allows the raid leader to distribute points at any time.

2. Deadly Boss Mods: This mod is so critical that Blizzard has pretty much built it into the game, as evidenced by their recent fixing of Void Reaver to allow mods to work on him again. This mod gives you a series of visual, text, and audio cues on various boss fights in World of Warcraft allowing easy integration of strategies across the entire raid. It also gives enrage times, stage changes, and announces when bosses use major abilities that effect raids. It is a very very nice mod.

3. Omen 2: This is a threat meter. It gives you a visual representation in the form of bars that show you how close you are to pulling off the tank on any given mob. The latest version will even give you an auditory warning when you reach 90 percent of the tank's threat, as well as the amount you can go over the tank without actually pulling the mob.

4. Atlas Loot: This gives you the possible drops of every boss and trash mob in any instance in the game. This way, your raiders can already know what they want off of any given boss and the time taken to distribute loot will be minimal.

5. Group Calendar: Allows officers to set up raids at any time and send that information to everyone in the guild with the mod. It also allows those members to sign up for the raid or give notice that they will not be able to attend. When raid time comes, there is actually a button for the raid leader to automatically invite everyone that signed up with one press. The mod even tells you when instances such as ZA will reset.
